Who are we?
We are a group of golfers who run a business putting together golf breaks and tours of some of the best golf courses in the UK and Ireland. We want to give you a great service at good value and make sure you enjoy your golf trips, return to us for more bookings and tell all your friends about us!
Do I get a discount by booking through TGB?
We aim to use our relationships with golf course management and volume buying power to arrange deals with golf courses and resorts that give you a discounted rate as well as some additional items or services that will save you money. We also add our own experience of the courses and add value by providing related content and services that will help you enjoy your trip and the courses you are playing even more.
We always make sure we visit courses we are going to promote ourselves and as well as using whatever promotional and course information we can get from the courses, we will usually produce our own “insiders guide” for our customers – that could cover anything from how to avoid that tricky ditch on the 8th to recommending the best place to sit in the bar and where to get the best pint of beer in the local town. Wherever possible, we like to actually play the course and talk about it with the club pro and management and add as much information to our pages on the facilities as possible to help you make the best decisions on where to book your trip.
How do TGB get paid for doing this?
We arrange for a commission or other payment basis for ourselves paid by the facilities we book (not our customers) and hopefully that pays for our costs in providing our services and leaves a bit at the end to pay for our own golf!
How do we get courses to give you a discount and extra value?
A golf tee time is a valuable, but also very perishable resource – once the tee time passes without someone teeing off, it has zero value! Most golf clubs have some spare capacity and would like to fill it as pretty much all their costs are fixed and if someone will pay for a tee time that would otherwise have been empty, that is extra income that would not otherwise have been earned. This is not just for “last minute” bookings, but for trips and rounds planned well ahead.
Also, most golf courses have limited marketing operations, especially online, and a lot of people researching for their golf break would not come across the golf course direct, but may see it on our site together with our insider information and discounted offers and decide to play the course.
Will the courses look after me if I am not paying a full green fee?
Of course – maybe even more so than normal! The courses know that TGB visitors are usually serious golfers who play a lot of top courses and have friends and fellow golf- club members who do the same. The courses know that if they give you a great experience you may want to return yourself and also bring new guests and make recommendations to others.
In addition to that incentive, we always ask our customers for feedback and reviews of all our courses and tours after they return and that gets posted on our site so others can see it and fed back to the course owners.
What sort of deals can we put together?
To make their courses attractive to TGB and our customers, they are usually willing to offer something like:
- A discount on the normal green fee, usually £5,00 to £10,00 discount.
- Added value offers that can include free or heavily discounted items like:
- Tea or coffee on arrival
- Club branded ball markers and pitch mark repairers
- A course planner.
- A token for balls on the practice range
- Discounts in the pro shop
